Does it matter what time I arrive at Geneva?
No, we have cars running 24 hours a day. Just let us know what time your flight arrives and we’ll have someone there to meet you in arrivals with a board with your name on it. The transfer time to Morzine is about an hour and 15 minutes, and we’ll be waiting at the chalet to greet you with a glass of something.
When do the trips run?
Almost all of our trips to Morzine run from Saturday to Saturday (our exceptions are the Christmas and New Year weeks). If you want to come for two consecutive weeks, we’ll knock 5% off the price.
Do you charge single supplements?
No, but you will be expected to share a (same sex) room. We have twin and triple rooms in most of our accommodation, with en-suite bathrooms. A large number of our guests come on their own and it’s a great way to meet new people. Don’t be shy!
Who comes on the trips?
We get a huge range of people, mainly in their twenties and thirties, and we’ve had guests from all over the world. Most people come on their own, some come with small groups of friends and others come with their other half. We usually get a good male/female split each week. There are never more than 14 people on each trip – small enough to get to know people, but big enough to be a good gang! Some are seasoned snow-fiends, others have never been skiing or boarding before.
We tend to appeal to people wanting a fun, sociable holiday but there’s never any pressure to do everything as a group and our trips are laidback – we want you to feel free to do as much or as little as you like, whether it’s chilling in front of the log fire, going ice-skating and night-sledging or hitting the bars and clubs of Morzine.
Why choose us?
We offer something different to the usual big ski and snowboard companies – no large anonymous groups, no cramped and nasty hotels, no kids! Our chalet is a step up from budget basic accommodation and you will be well looked after by our h.o.f.n.a.r host, who will take care of everything. They know and love the area, so they’ll also show you the best pistes and our favourite bars. Our holidays are a brilliant way to meet new likeminded people and make lifelong friends. Lots of our guests have been on our trips before and keep coming back – that always gives us a warm glow. Come and join us!
Why are the trips “semi-catered”?
The price of the trip includes breakfast every day with enough daily fresh bread, cheese and ham to help yourself to a packed lunch to take up the mountain. We also provide afternoon tea, and hot drinks. In the evening, we cook a simple but tasty three-course dinner in the chalet for those who want it. This costs 10 Euros per person, which includes beer and wine. The reason we don’t do fully-catered is because we want to give you the freedom to eat out whenever you like and we don’t want to charge you for chalet meals you don’t get to eat! It’s all very relaxed – just let us know if you’ll be joining us that night.
Do I need insurance?
Yes! Make sure your travel insurance covers snow sports, and if you are a UK citizen you will also need an EHIC card.
How do I get a lift pass?
We’ll sort this out for you and make sure it’s at the chalet waiting for you when you arrive so you can just dump your bags and hit the slopes. We’re really relaxed about arrival and departure times, so it’s possible to get eight full days’ skiing out of a week-long trip if you arrive early on the Saturday and depart late the following Saturday. Just let us know and we’ll sort it.
Does the chalet have wi-fi?
Yep! There is a laptop you can use and it also has a sauna, hot tub and real log fire so you may not be spending as much time on your laptop as you think.
What does h.o.f.n.a.r stand for?
You’ll have to come away with us to find out!
