THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER
A classic hike along the South coast of England.
We’ll catch the 8:37 out of London St Pancras, which should have us walking in Deal at 10 am. (If you’d like to meet us there or join us at any of the stations along the way, you’d be more than welcome)
It’s a pretty straightforward walk along the coastline, flat to start with and then we’ll steadily climb up for the second section where we’ll be high on top of these famous cliffs.
This walk is so fascinating because (apart from anything) this is the narrowest part of the English Channel and the shipping traffic is fascinating.
The whole walk should take us about 5.5hrs and so after a celebratory pint in one of Dover’s dockside taverns we’ll head back to London at about 5pm…
A cracking day out for sure!
The price includes:
– Being part of the hiking group
– HOFNAR host
– Return train (We’ll look at getting a group ticket to reduce prices…if you have a discount (network rail for example) card mention it in the comments below as 3 people can travel with you discounted!)
– Lunch. There are several pubs and tearooms along the way
– Post walk cheeky half
THE CLASSIC SEVEN SISTERS
We are going to do the epic Seven Sisters path from Seaford to Eastbourne. This is almost 14 miles and is approximately 7 hours of walking!! Not for the feint hearted.
Are you up for it?
This path is really well known and is often thought of as being one of the best walks in the whole of the south east – if not the country. We’ll be hiking along the dramatic white cliffs. It’s not the easiest of walks – there are very few flat bits, but it is a belter!!
There is a really good description of what we’ll be up to on this website (click here)
We’ll catch the 8:47 train from London Victoria (you could join us at any of the stations on route) and be hiking by 10:30 am.
(We’ll endeavour to get a group ticket to bring the price down, but depends on numbers.)
We should get to Eastbourne by 6pm and possibly grab a cheeky half before taking the train from there back to London
– h.o.f.n.a.r host
Extras to pay for:
– Train fare
– Lunch money (but I reckon we should take a picnic!)
Stuff to bring:
