Hofnar? Diary

During the summer, the town of Morzine, nestled in the Dranse valley, takes on a whole new feel. The white ski runs become a lush green and, in fact, there is way more to do here now than during those chilly winter months.

These holidays are for those who like to do 'stuff.' Sure, it's quite likely you'll still go home with a tan, but you won't be lazing around all day to get it. We get up to all kinds of things during the day; hiking, biking, rafting, swimming, karting, flying....you name it, and then in the evening; great food, bbqs, the odd glass of wine and maybe we'll even hit the dance floor until the early hours!

You can (and most do) come on your own on any trip. However we have 2 weeks laid out where everybody will be 'travelling solo'

Most of us aren't super dooper fit, but guests tend to be pretty active minded. You don't have to be an expert at any of the activities we do and you don't have to do all, or even any, of the activites. You can truly do as much, or as little, as you wish......it's your holiday after all!

Who comes on these trips?

Each time we go, the group is different. On the summer trips there are not usually more than 9 people, most travel on their own. We don't have any children on our organised trips, our guests are usually 20, 30 and 40somethings (not the idiots on the costa del whatever, the rest of us!) and a good mixture of Brits, Antipodeans and Europeans, both male and female.

You don't have to be all that fit, there is nothing overly 'extreme'........unless you want there to be!!

Single / Solo travellers - Many of the group come along on their own and solo travellers are welcomed on any of our trips. There are no single supplements and because the groups are small, it really doesn't take long to fit in. We do, however, have 2 trips this summer lined up just for those on their own. 11th July or 22nd August.

Couples - We have some great double rooms. If you want to come along and do your own thing, just the 2 of you, no problem. If you want to come along and join in with the rest of the gang, no problem. Everything is really flexi, so make it as romantic as you wish!

Groups of friends - These are great holidays, if just a few of you want to get away together. If you have a large gang we can organise a private bespoke trip for you.

Typical Itinerary

Day1: The HOFNAR rep will meet you and the group at Geneva airport at 2pm (TBC) and then drive everyone up to the resort (about 90 minutes) in a minibus. We'll probably head out to a local restaurant for 'wood-fired' pizza in the evening, followed by a visit to a few of the local hostelries.

Day2: Hire mountain bikes and by taking the lifts up the mountain enjoy the day cruising back down on roads, tracks and trails. After stopping at the 'Village of the goats' for lunch, We could dip into the lake of Montriond for a swim in the afternoon sun.

Day3: You could start the day on the 'Fantasticable,' a zip wire that crosses the valley, over 200m in the air and over 100kph, That should wake you up a little. Afternoon by the olympic size pool, early evening climbing ladders, rope swings, crossing waterfalls and swinging through the trees.

Day4: Short hike up the Pleney to lunch in a mountain restaurant. We can go visit the devil's gorge in the afternoon. Devil go carting down the slopes in the evening.

Day 5: Ever abseiled down a waterfall? Now's your chance, clamber through the Nyon waterfalls and plunge pools. Then take to the skies again with a tandem para glide in the afternoon. Can you smell the barbeque?

Day 6: Perhaps pony trekking or a round of golf or a bungee jump or a spot of mountain boarding or a spot of lazing in a deck chair, followed in the afternoon by White water rafting down the river Dranse.

Day 7: Mountain Biking on the other side of the valley, picnic lunch with incredible views. Let's go down the toboggan run a couple of times in the evening, before tucking into a farewell dinner of fondue or 'hot rock' at a local restaurant.

Day 8: Transfer back to Geneva airport to be there at 10am (TBC)
